It all kicked off at 10 o,clock. Me and James were in the lead but soon discovered Aiden and Brad were starting to come back. Suddenly I started comming back and winning three games in a row. Me and Aiden got some good rallies going but in the end he beat me 9-3.

I would of gone for 100m, long jump, Relay and high jump. I woke with a start at 7;00 feeling tired but ready. I went to open my curtains to find everyting cloudy. It was raining and it was windy. "I bet its cancelled", I say to myself. I get dressed, have breackfast and get on the buss with a full backpack. When I got to school I found out it had been cancelled. I was really upset because I was looking forward to Full Primary and Lower Waipa athletics. It was a shame.

Athletics Day 2013
31st of October 2013. I woke with a start feeling pumped and ready. I had a feeling I was going to do well today. I ate a huge breakfast of mueslie and put on my Te Pahu t-shirt. Today Im going to be representing the school not Tahuanui. Shortly after I got onto the bus. I talked to James for a while untill we got off the bus. When we got to school we were surprised to see that the feild wasnt set up so us P.E monitors had to set it up.
Athletics all kicked off at 9;30. The 12 and 13 yearolds started at discuss(thats my group). Then hurtles and then long jump(one of my favorites). James jumped first and got 3.23m and then I jumped 3.60m. On our second jump amazingly he jumped 4.03m then I jumped 4.03m. On our final jump he jumped 4.16m and I jumped 4.23m claiming first.
After long jump we did sprints, another one of my favorites. I was so nervous and on the first race I got third, I had a bad race but then in the final I got first winning sprints also.
Next up was high jump, my legs were really sore. We had the paterangi mat and pole aswell wich everyone dislikes. I had won all the high jump trainings and jumped 1.40 my personal best early that week. In the end it was me and James left and it went on for ages. So it was a tie and then we sat down but they got us back up because there had to be one winner. Well anyway we ended up putting the bar down to 1.26m and we kept knocking it then James just got off before the bar fell down. I jumped and hurt my led aqnd fell on the ground. I had knocked it but I got second overall.
Shortly after it was shotput and I threw a 3kg shotput 8.6m claiming second. At the end of the day I got 2 firsts 2 seconds and a 3rd. What a great day.

Clearing and planting at Mt Pirongia
On the 18th October 2013, room7 hadaclass trip to the Pirongia Forest Park Lodge. We all met at the school at 9:00 sharp and waited for Mr Marquand to put us into car groups. When we got to the lodge we unpacked the car and placed the plants beside the lodge and waited. While we waited we talked to Kate and put on sunblock. When Pirongia School turned up we had a talk with Kate and disccussed our plan. We planned on clearingand planting over 100 trees around the outdoor classroom so it will be surrounded by native plants so kids can learn about nature and the wildlife of Mt Pirongia. We all walked down the grassy slopes, carrying plants untill we finally reached the classroom. We placed our plants down and admired the wooden benches, bridge, stage and gravel floor and of corse it had no roof. Us boys then sprinted back up to the lodge and got more plants. we repeated that proccess untill there were no more plants left. Finally we sat down on the grass slope by the entry of the classroom to watch Kate plant a plant so we all no how to. It looked pretty simple but it was quite challenging. The hardest part was digging the hole. I worked with Charlie for a start chopping up sticks and then I worked with James and Lars. Then we helped out some Pirongia girls with clearing branches and there I planted more flax. Finally It was morning tea time. We all ran up the steep slopes to the lodge to find what food was waiting for us. SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! cordial, sausage rolls and bickies. After that feast us boys hung out on the trampoline and on the hills. Our combined classes then began the walk down to the classroom to continue the clearing and planting. Then us bros found a knew tactic to roam free continuously stopping at each station in a working cycle. We ended up changing quite a bit of countryside by the classroom and planting lots of teatrees. It was hard work and the sun was beating down on us but our trusty Te Pahu School hats sheilded the sun lol. finally there were no more plants to be planted and our watches said around 12:00 so we called it quits. again we headed back up to the lodge all stinky and sweaty. We then ate our lunch and bounced on the tramp. After the long day we said goodbye to Kate and the Pirongia kids and wizzed back down to Te Pahu School to carry on with our school work.

Room7 Speeches 2013
On friday the 20th of september i had to do my speech infront of the whole class. The reason I had to was because I wasnt at school on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday when our class did them. I was quite nervous and asked Mr marquand if I had to but he said yes. Every year I get nervious but I felt confident and I wanted to get it over and done with.I stood up and started saying my speech. It was bizzare, I didnt go shaky and I didnt say it really fast. I had pauses and I thought I did very well. My speech was on how awesome Mr Marquand is. It was a relief when I had finished my speech and everyone clapped for me. I conqoured my fear and I even thought I bought a tear to Mr Marquands eye.

Mt Ruapehu skiing trip
I woke up at 4:30 feeling pumped and ready. I walked into the kitchen and ate breakfast. Me and Mum loaded our gear into the car and packed our lunches. Dad wished us luck and we drove to Shellys house to pick up James. It was still dark when we reached the school. Everyone was on the coart and me James, Biship and Tyreece played a game of half coart. Me and Lars got in the back and James and Tyreece sat in the front. I texted Kayla on the way down and listened to music. Tyreece didnt talk the whole way down.We all met at the Shato. James found a pocket knife and we all streched and talked. We got on the road again and drove up the mountain. When we got to the top we hired our gear and all of the class went to Happy Valley but me and Mum went up the mountain and did a run. We came back down to Happy Valley and I skiied with James and Amy. We skiied and skiied and then we all went up the mountain and all my mates had their ski lessons. I was so board so me and Mum had lunch. After we had lunch we went on a t bar and went as high as we could go up the mountain. Then we went back to happy valley.Me and James then organised to go up the mountain with Zane and Mr Marquand. Up we went up the chair lift and onto the other chair lift. Once we had skiied/boarded for about an hour and a half we sped back down to happy valley.I had races on the sleds with Pixie, Amy, Zane, Grayham and Taylor. We did heaps of runs on the sleds and me and Grayham got airborn!!! We then got our picture taken and had a snow ball fight. All on all, so mutch fun. Finally we packed up our gear and walked to the hiring station to retern our gear. Lucky for me i have my own skiis. The lift from happy valley up to the car park is a shocker. It is so steap it is crazy. When i walked down to our car with Tyreece and James we made a plan to ambush Lars when he came. It worked. On the way home i texted Pixie, Amy and Kayla. When we finally met at Mc Daonalds everyone was really sunburnt and half a sleep. We got on the road again and drove home. We dropped James and Tyreece off and drove to home sweet home.

My Kaleidoscope
This is my Kaleidoscope that I made on Friday. The original picture was a butterfly. The hardest bit was cutting out all the squares. Next time I will be more carefull laying down all the squares. Overall I really liked my Kaleidoscope!! Our first step was too choose our big picture wich had 4 squares for each big square and there was 12 big picture squares making up the base of the Kaleidoscope. For step 2 we had to cut our big peice of paper in half. One half was the original and one half was the reflection. For step three we had too name all a peices of paper then rearrange them so it was turned inside out.

One Huge Snapper
On Monday the 12th of May. Mr Marquand said he'd gone fishing and caught an undersized fish but he said he kept it so we could have a play with it but it turned out to be an 84 cm Snapper that he'd got from Fish City.
It turned out to be 12 kg (really heavy). For our experiment first we had to estimate how much the fish weighs, I estimated 10.5 kilos. Mr Marquand weighed it afterwards and it weighed 12 kilos. Then we had to estimate its length, I guessed 95 cm but it was 84.
Overall I enjoyed it plus I like science more now. But the fish really stank.

Self Portraits
In term 1 we had to do self portraits of ourselves. Easier said than done, first we had to get half a picture of our face and symetrically draw the rest. I think my mouth is really good and my hair and nose. My most challenging parts of my face I had to draw was probably my eyes and ears. Next time I will do more shading on my shirt and cheek. Overall I really enjoyed it.
