On Thursday the 28th of November 6 athlets were chosen to represent Te Pahu School in Full Primary Athletics. I was one of the 6 that were chosen. I would of gone for 100m, long jump, Relay and high jump. I woke with a start at 7;00 feeling tired but ready. I went to open my curtains to find everyting cloudy. It was raining and it was windy. "I bet its cancelled", I say to myself. I get dressed, have breackfast and get on the buss with a full backpack. When I got to school I found out it had been cancelled. I was really upset because I was looking forward to Full Primary and Lower Waipa athletics. It was a shame.

Athletics Day 2013
31st of October 2013. I woke with a start feeling pumped and ready. I had a feeling I was going to do well today. I ate a huge breakfast of mueslie and put on my Te Pahu t-shirt. Today Im going to be representing the school not Tahuanui. Shortly after I got onto the bus. I talked to James for a while untill we got off the bus. When we got to school we were surprised to see that the feild wasnt set up so us P.E monitors had to set it up.
Athletics all kicked off at 9;30. The 12 and 13 yearolds started at discuss(thats my group). Then hurtles and then long jump(one of my favorites). James jumped first and got 3.23m and then I jumped 3.60m. On our second jump amazingly he jumped 4.03m then I jumped 4.03m. On our final jump he jumped 4.16m and I jumped 4.23m claiming first.
After long jump we did sprints, another one of my favorites. I was so nervous and on the first race I got third, I had a bad race but then in the final I got first winning sprints also.
Next up was high jump, my legs were really sore. We had the paterangi mat and pole aswell wich everyone dislikes. I had won all the high jump trainings and jumped 1.40 my personal best early that week. In the end it was me and James left and it went on for ages. So it was a tie and then we sat down but they got us back up because there had to be one winner. Well anyway we ended up putting the bar down to 1.26m and we kept knocking it then James just got off before the bar fell down. I jumped and hurt my led aqnd fell on the ground. I had knocked it but I got second overall.
Shortly after it was shotput and I threw a 3kg shotput 8.6m claiming second. At the end of the day I got 2 firsts 2 seconds and a 3rd. What a great day.

Clearing and planting at Mt Pirongia
On the 18th October 2013, room7 hadaclass trip to the Pirongia Forest Park Lodge. We all met at the school at 9:00 sharp and waited for Mr Marquand to put us into car groups. When we got to the lodge we unpacked the car and placed the plants beside the lodge and waited. While we waited we talked to Kate and put on sunblock. When Pirongia School turned up we had a talk with Kate and disccussed our plan. We planned on clearingand planting over 100 trees around the outdoor classroom so it will be surrounded by native plants so kids can learn about nature and the wildlife of Mt Pirongia. We all walked down the grassy slopes, carrying plants untill we finally reached the classroom. We placed our plants down and admired the wooden benches, bridge, stage and gravel floor and of corse it had no roof. Us boys then sprinted back up to the lodge and got more plants. we repeated that proccess untill there were no more plants left. Finally we sat down on the grass slope by the entry of the classroom to watch Kate plant a plant so we all no how to. It looked pretty simple but it was quite challenging. The hardest part was digging the hole. I worked with Charlie for a start chopping up sticks and then I worked with James and Lars. Then we helped out some Pirongia girls with clearing branches and there I planted more flax. Finally It was morning tea time. We all ran up the steep slopes to the lodge to find what food was waiting for us. SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! cordial, sausage rolls and bickies. After that feast us boys hung out on the trampoline and on the hills. Our combined classes then began the walk down to the classroom to continue the clearing and planting. Then us bros found a knew tactic to roam free continuously stopping at each station in a working cycle. We ended up changing quite a bit of countryside by the classroom and planting lots of teatrees. It was hard work and the sun was beating down on us but our trusty Te Pahu School hats sheilded the sun lol. finally there were no more plants to be planted and our watches said around 12:00 so we called it quits. again we headed back up to the lodge all stinky and sweaty. We then ate our lunch and bounced on the tramp. After the long day we said goodbye to Kate and the Pirongia kids and wizzed back down to Te Pahu School to carry on with our school work.
